I am a figurative artist residing in Texas. I am curious about what motivates people and why they make the choices they do. Art has always been my primary creative outlet, so drawing and painting people seems particularly compelling to me and a good way to satisfy my curiosity about human nature.

Mark making, design, and color, help me to delineate the beauty I see in ordinary people, to experience the spirituality inherent in the creative process, and to celebrate the joy of living.

Please stop by and check out my work at www.sboyleart.com.

Jani, I love your quote. Is it yours? Good luck with your art work this year!

Like so many women who set their art aside for their family, for the past two years I have experienced an awakening of my true artistic energy. Throughout my life art has been the one true common thread, the stitches that bind my chapters together. As a photographic artist I embrace the ability to spotlight my point of view and give a voice to my imagination.

My work is inspired by two things, the internal world and the external world.
A good day is when they meet on canvas....

Hello, my name is Jani. I have been an artist for over 37 years. Some of my first memories are of me drawing. For some reason, for years, I was too afraid to do art for the public. Occassionally I would do a commission or a show, but mostly focused on raising my kids. Being a mother has taught me a lot about courage as well as cultivated a quirky sense of humor. Now, I am 43, my kids are not so little anymore, and as of January 2011, I decided that I was going to go for it and put my art out there for all to see.

What a great and timely idea. I am a watercolorist, and can't wait to be inspired by the many talented women artists who find their way to this site and this show.

I love to paint many subjects, but especially still life. I paint in oil and pastel which I enjoy equally. I am a regular at Mainstreet Art Center in Lake Zurich, and travel a couple of times a year to take workshops from nationally known artists. This year I started a blog and experimenting with smaller oil paintings. My larger paintings and pastels are on my website.

This is a fabulous idea, to celebrate and showcase the works of women artists. It can also be a valuable tool for us to connect with each other and further our collective goals.

I work in fiber. My current bodies of work are created on the loom as conceptual representations that explore the value of money.

Fiber is a relevant art form and universal medium. Every human is in contact with fiber almost continually throughout her lifetime. My challenge is to explore and exploit this very tactile, sensuous medium; to take it beyond traditional "handicrafts" to a radical, thought-provoking level. Women's work indeed!

I am an artist in oils, painting because I just must! I paint landscapes, still life and figurative. My "studio" is in my Crystal Lake IL home. My painting style can best be described as "painterly realism." I occasionally take classes at Mainstreet Art Center in Lake Zurich IL. I am currently represented by the Ice House Mall Gallery (Barrington Cultural Arts Center). My art can be viewed on my website -- www.mstamosart.com.

Welcome to Women's Works, 2012.
We are in the process of promoting this new website. Will you help us out by sending it to your artist friends and family? We will be adding new images on the site, so check back often to see the new look and artwork. We want to thank all of the artists for permitting us to post the wonderful artwork which they have created. It has been a pleasure to work on this website and to enjoy your artwork as a brush, palette and canvas.
