I was an advertising and children's book illustrator for many years and am now an emerging painter. I found this site while cruising the net, looking for show and contest opportunities for 2012. See my work on my my website or blog.

My forests of unusual, surreal trees offer viewers a respite from the every day. My original photography combines with my skills in digital media to create warm, Impressionistic scenes that invite you to escape to a dream-like world where edges are as soft as a pillow, and colors refresh and sooth.

If you love the ocean as much as I do check out my work at

I am a portrait artist, illustrator, public artist and art teacher based in Chicago's Ravenswood neighborhood. After twelve years in management consulting, I turned toward my passion for art. I complete 10-12 commissions per year, teach weekly Elder Art classes, create large-scale pavement chalk murals and am an active arts advocate, participating in local exhibitions and volunteering for the community to use art to raise awareness for a range of social issues.

Thank you for supporting women in the fine arts. As an older woman artist working in metals and sculpture I have had to go toe to toe with men working in foundry and welding areas. I encourage all young women to pursue your dreams and know that times have changed and you can do anything!

What a great website-encouraging and informative!

Hello and thank you for developing this site! I am a designated Illinois Artisan in Fiber, but I also create mixed media and digital photography. I'm a long time Woodstock resident and hopeful that now that the City of Woodstock has taken over the Old Courthouse we will continue to see programs like Women's Works and commitment to the Arts.

I am a painter and assemblage artist. Currently I am searching for Illinois women artists of color who should be better known because of the significance of their work for a panel discussion at Woman Made Gallery in Chicago. Along with exhibiting I am an art professor, curator, judge and juror for various exhibitions and art fairs and have exhibited on four continents. I have a BFA from Howard University and an MFA from Yale University.

My medium is primarily glass, stained glass panels due to my interest of everchanging light. I prefer using the copper foil method as I feel that it allows for more flexible design . & Often use sandblasting on the glass as a tool for carving and thereby changing the depths for shadowing and creating form. Incuded in my interests are photography, mainly exploring organic colors, forms and the beauty of nature. With these, I create cards sometimes incorporating a variety of mixed media. My first love was drawing, and that naturally leads to my interest in the other types of medium. Meeting a woman from this encouraging site, I hope to learn more of her works as well as being inspired & motivated by what I see from others. Always trying to retain the gifts of other artists by their creativity with gratitude.

I am a Canadian artist working in mixed media and collage. I am interested in colour and texture as a means to convey a feeling or mood in either figure work or abstracts. I enjoy building my surfaces with several layers and then working back into them with tools other than brushes. Having a direct connection to the surface I am working on with simply my hands allows me an immediate expressive means.

Thank you for encouraging women in the Arts!

It is wonderful to see a website dedicated to Women's art. I know many wonderful woman artists that have inspired me. I worked for 17 years at a Commercial Artists for the US Postal Service and now I am concentrating on working as a Fine Artists with my realist Oil Paintings. I aspire to enhance the beauty around me and bring life to the animals and figures I paint. The older I get the more I want to use bold bright colors, light and shadows to express what I want to create on a canvas. Thank you for the opportunity to share with this website.
